Telehealth visits

We offer telehealth consultants for IV sedation and local anesthetic allergy patients

We offer very unique dental services that draw patients from a large area of the Northeast and beyond. It is not always prudent nor practical for certain patients to travel to our office for an initial consultation. To that end, we offer telehealth/telemedicine visits with Dr. Nick Calcaterra.

The objective of the visit includes:

  • A review of your medical history, including all current medications and known drug allergies.
  • A review of your dental needs.
  • An assessment of your suitability for treatment. Stated another way: Dr. Nick Calcaterra will assess and hopefully determine at this online visit if he is able to address your dental needs.

We need to stress the following:

  • Because this is not an in person visit, it is not a true dental exam, so it is not covered by dental insurance. We do not participate with any medical insurance plans. The fee is $150 and payment is required with a credit card at the time the visit is scheduled.
  • Due to the complexity of many of our patient’s needs, sometimes additional telehealth visits and/or in-person consultations will be required.
  • The visit lasts up to 35 minutes.

We offer these visits at these times:

  • Select Fridays at different times throughout the day (this depends on our IV sedation appointments that day).
  • Select mornings throughout the week, beginning at 7 AM Eastern time.
  • We occasionally can do them during normal business hours – it all depends how busy Dr. Nick Calcaterra is.

To-Dos Before Your Visit

We need the following items completed a minimum of three business days before the visit:

  • Complete the new patient forms and email them to us (they are located here).
  • Have all current x-rays sent to us.
  • Have documentation from any specialists (such as notes from an allergist, a referral from another dentist, etc.) sent to us.
  • Complete the telehealth visit consent form.
  • Pay the $150 fee.

If we do not receive all the information within 3 days, we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule the visit.

We use Zoom for our visits. Please make sure you have the Zoom software installed on the device you wish to use. We will be sending you the meeting information in advance.
